  • Detailed session description

In this expert session, Jarek Sacharski, a renowned Voice and Public Speaking coach, begins by introducing himself as a passionate advocate for maximizing the potential of voices in both online and offline contexts. He invites the audience to reflect on their own voices, requesting they describe them using three words, emphasizing honesty and anonymity. Next, he asks participants about their relationship with public speaking, gathering valuable data for understanding human voice communication in various settings.

The session then delves into the merits and challenges of presenting online versus in-person communications. Jarek invites participants to share their thoughts briefly before diving deeper into this topic later in the session. Engagement and dialogue are highlighted as crucial elements in effective communication, with the human voice playing a significant role in shaping these interactions.

Throughout the lecture, Jarek encourages participants to ask questions via Mentimeter for clarification and exploration of related topics. He explains that understanding the historical context and physiological processes underlying our voices will empower individuals to enhance their online presentations and engage more effectively with their audiences.

Jarek goes on to discuss the connection between our voice and the autonomic nervous system, emphasizing the impact of our body's physical states on communication. He guides participants through various exercises using the Mentimeter app to gain insight into their nervous system responses and learn techniques for adapting their voice accordingly.

The session continues as Jarek explains how proper breathing support can enhance vocal delivery, allowing individuals to effectively engage and reach their audience. By practicing these techniques, participants can develop greater control over their voice and improve communication skills in various situations.

As the expert session progresses, Jarek delves into the anatomy of the human voice, discussing how it is created in the larynx by muscles and then amplified in resonators, including the throat and mouth. He demonstrates how adjusting the size of these resonators can alter the sound of one's voice, providing tips on massaging jaw muscles for more space in the mouth and throat.

Jarek emphasizes the importance of long exhalations, proper breathing techniques, and focusing on the audience rather than oneself during public speaking engagements. The session concludes with tips on controlling the nervous system through voice exercises and physical activities before presentations. Throughout this engaging expert session, participants gain valuable insights into the power of their voices and effective communication strategies for various settings.
