Climate Positivity
The climate crisis is the first truly global challenge for humanity. Our solution is mostly focused on doing less: fly less, eat less meat, use less energy. This will buy us some extra time, but it will not get us there. It’s not about doing less of the bad things, but about doing more good things. We need to radically reshape our world, become 'greenhouse gas emission negative' or, with a better word, climate positive. We make choices as individuals, but it is precisely as organisations or professions that we can truly achieve impact at scale. Reframing AI: exploring radically different ways of working
Artificial Intelligence (AI), while currently a hype, is also a technology that will profoundly change the way we work. By understanding what AI does, in particular the difference between symbolic and generative AI, we can get a better idea of what AI can and cannot do well. We will explore how to apply AI in our daily work for text, images, code, or data, what the potential and pitfalls are, and how to begin experimenting with this. We will also discuss how AI could fundamentally change our profession and our sector.
AI is a transformative technology that will radically change the way we work. In order to make optimal use of this, we will also need to fundamentally rethink our own work practices, and explore radically new perspectives.
Reframing Sustainability
Our concern for the future climate and biodiversity of the Earth has led to a global – if uneven - effort on sustainability. But what do we mean by ‘sustainability’ and how do we achieve this? One solution is focused on doing less: use less energy, eat less meat, fly less. This may buy us some extra time, but it will not get us there. Fundamentally, it’s not about doing fewer bad things, but about doing more good things. By reframing the scarcity mindset of traditional ecological thinking, we can develop an abundance mindset to achieve a thriving humanity on a thriving planet.
